Talking New record rainbow for menteith 21lb

Just heard from Quint at the lake of Menteith there was a 21lb trout caught and returned safely by the pike anglers this one smashed the old record by 4lbs previously held by Davy Downie. Quint said there was a photo taken so should see it on the web site .I hope its big brother is waiting for me tomorrow at the kirk day

Look forward to the pics.

Do the Pike guys at Menteith use fly only or more traditional methods ?

I've just read on a pike forum that the fish was dropped in the boat and died...

A certain pike fishing forum is claiming the fish was dropped, died and then thrown back into the water. Apparently the captor had done the same thing to an 8lb trout a few weeks previously.
Andy.

wouldn't believe a word of it until Quint tells us. That forum is well known among us pikers as "The Sun" of forums, full of hearsay gobsh/te, often spread by sh/t stirrers. Many of the posters there have axes to gring, and grind they most certainly do. It may be true but don't believe all you read, especially on THAT cr@p forum.

The fish 21lb blue was returned safely by the pike angler. It would have been stocked at 2lb-7lb, so grown on quite a bit since then. Believe me there's alot more in the Lake of that size and quality! Can't wait to see the photo, i'll post soon as!

Cheers Paul

The fish was dropped from knee height but luckily landed on a large unhooking mat. photos were taken by my mate and very experienced angler scott davidson who has stated the fish was undamged and returned safely. Scott is very capable. A hardy grown on fish of this size would hopefully be none the worse for the encounter.???
