Angry greed?????

just been to lechlade today as i was looking to have a nice day then as soon as i got in the man asks my age. I have never been asked before and i have been going their for nearly 3 years now. the man said last year 14 year olds were classes as adults I think that is just being greedy as how can you expect 14 year olds to pay that sort of money. people say that not enough young people get into the sport but how can they when they got to pay top prices???

I pay £5 for up to 8 hours at my local fishery. That's pretty good for under 16's compared to many other places

Any lad up to his 17th birthday should be classed as a juvenile, and should have concessions, your right it is greed.

That's bang out of order mate, after being a regular for 3yrs!

In the Environment Agency's books and everyone else you are a Junior until you hit your 17th birthday and need an ADULT LICENCE.

Quite right pal, vote with your feet....though I know thats easy to say,the practicalities of finding another place to fish may not be as simple. However your regular fishery is treating you shabbily. If the guy had any sense,he would be rewarding you for your loyalty and giving other youngsters encouragement. You guys are the future of the sport.
Aw the best....

OK well i'm going to be Devil's advocate here. Little Machin is clearly an accomplished caster and angler. why should he (at 16 or 17) pay less than a 25 year old complete beginner who hasn't a cat in hells chance of catching a limit (or even a fish)?? I think there should be concessions for those starting the sport, or for young lads (how about a lads and dads sharing ticket, or a beginner's one fish ticket) but when young chap turns up and stalks out 4 decent fish, why should the fishery operator charge him/her half price??? Concessionary licences are probably to do with younger anglers not being mobile enough to get out much, but you don't get 25% off a new rod as a youngster do you??
Not sure what i've posted is my opinion, but it's the other side of the coin??

It's a difficult one as fisheries are struggling like everyone else and if someone takes four fish out, that cost has to be covered. Maybe a beginners ticket allowing a dozen visits for a small sum and after that you pay to fish and then pay per fish caught until your sixteen which is the legal age to work. If the fishery wants to go further and offer reductions etc for students, unemployed etc then good on them if they can afford to.

BrownieBasher my dad dont fly fish anyway and i learnt myself how to fly cast but i would say im getting better every time i go. this place called watermark is a realy good fishery as the manager gave me and my two mates discount cards to use as he wants younger people getting into the sport and thats what you should see.
