Default Still Water Wading

A bit of an odd one... Does anyone know of any still water's around the west midlands that permit wading (open off season)? I just recieved a new pair of waders and want to test them out (preferibly without standing in the shower)

Ta, D.

Cheers Jim, Isn't there a season closure at Thornton though, some time in November normally?

As a relative newbie to this game, can someone explain the reason why wading is taboo on many stillwaters?

Busheyleaze (Lechlade) allows wading and is open all year.

Selection of different reasons

On small stuff below, five acres, a wader can cause an antisocial amount of disturbance.

On many artificial reservoirs and ponds there are very steep drop-offs so some owners ban wading on safety grounds.

Scares the fish away from the banks
Heavy boot falls kill trout food like nymphs and pupa in the marginal shallows
Often (nb - not always, often) unnecessary to reach fish

I fish Sutton Bingham reservoir each spring, and there's a local convention among the anglers (not a fishery rule) that wading is only done sparingly. Fish can often be caught within a 15 yard cast, and sometimes very close to the shore indeed, if only you "keep your feet dry".
