What rules does your fishery have, what water (river or still) , what weight fly and how deep do you want to fish?
Regards
Rob

I use fish pimps. Discard the rubber tube and replace it with a piece of cocktail stick. Trim the ends flush to the indicator. When it gets wet the wood will swell and keep the indicator locked in place.

Default strike indicator

Hi
It very much depends on the type of indicator to be used. Some like those sold by Lureflash have a central hole through which the leader is pushed and then a small stick is inserted into the hole at whatever depth you want to fish. These work well however the sticks provided are far too fat and long and tend to split the indicator. Try and find some cocktail sticks that are a bit thinner and they will do the jo.

If using something like Pimps there is a slot in the side covered by rubber tubing and you shove the leader to the back of the slot and in theory the rubber will stop the indicator coming off. in practice no matter how careful you chech the indicator will come off often at some stage. However my wife got crafty when using the pimps and she pops a micro ledger stop on the leader at the depth she wants to fish. The leader is then pushed through the tubing and slid down the leader to the ledger stop and another micro stop is added and then no way will you lose another. Ok the disadvantage is that while you can easily adjust depth you have to breakl everything down on the leader for a change of tactics. There are lots of others on the market but these two types are very easy to use.

Good luck

Bob
