Default Pulling Flies

I've heard this term used often and have probably fished this way without knowing it.

What does the term mean, does it mean stripping lures or does it refer to long slow pulls on traditional surface disruption patterns.

Which patterns would you use if you were fishing this method ?

pulling flies can encompass such a wide range of patterns whether it be blobs and other lures or more traditionally wet flies - either winged or hackled. Ive found the more recent types of wets using straggle and the like to be really effective - wets with a twist I guess you could say.

Anything that is on the end of your line, and comes toward you, is being pulled !!!!.

On the other hand, has anyone ever seen a PUSHING fly.

This is a modern term & to be quite frank one I dislike. It offers nothing to my mind the many means of retrieving a wet fly. Something that only time & experience will install in an individual.
