Default Mel Krieger passed away today

Folks,

As many of you know, Mel has been very ill the past 4 months suffering from a rare form of brain lymphoma. He passed away early this morning.

My condolences go out to Fanny, and the rest of Mel's family.

I would like to add that Mel's 'family' is most certainly much much larger than his kin. It also encompasses the very many around the world who have benefited from his enthusiasm which permeated all his teachings on the subject of fly casting. In word, in stills, in video footage, in clinics and in personal contact.

I will miss his infectious wide grin, and the twinkle in his eyes, under his very 'Mel Krieger' ratty old hat.

Regards,
Hans W

That is very sad news indeed.

Mel Kreiger is a legend and although I never had the good fortune to meet him, his teachings have made me a much better fly fisherman.

Strangely I was watching his Patagonian video this week. I would advise this as a must see fly fishing video. His 'Essence of Fly Casting book' is also one of the best around.

Mel - you will be missed by many - fish on my friend...

Very sad news indeed.

He certainly enjoyed Patagonia - over 40 years of visits; although I never met him, I feel honoured to have fished several of his favourite haunts.
A true gentleman and a great ambassador for the sport.

RIP
