Hi matey

Lived in the area for years and grew up fishing the Kilmacolm beat (tickets used to be sold at the Cross Cafe).

There is the Abercorn beat and tickets are sold at the angling shop in Renfrew (think its called Angling Unlimited or something like that??)

I usually fish the Bridge of Weir beat...it is probably the best for both salmon and trout. Tickets available in the new agents as you enter the village from the Glasgow direction.

By all accounts plenty of grilse around and you always see the odd fish moving tail end. The best salmon pools tend to be the ones near the village or up at the sharp bend called the 'meetings'.

Re public transport their is a regular bus to BoW that would drop you off at the Newsagents and at the start of the beat!!

Best of luck.

much appreciated my Friend ,so if i get a chance ill be up before the end of the season I'm thinking of bringing my 9 half foot pike fly outfit which holds a 9 weight line as that will subdue any grilse it meets up with ,if I'm that lucky that is ,Ive been hearing of how clean and in great condition the Gryffe fish are and I'm wanting to try it out for the purpose of fishing it more next season

The Paisley Abercorn Club has a website - link is below. I don't drive so use the bus constantly - there's reasonable links from centre of Paisley using No 9 service to Linwood or Riverside's No 8 & 19 to Bridge of weir. The 19 runs the length of the north bank of the river so is ideal for getting to most spots of the Gryffe.

If you need any more information, feel free to pm me or email me through the club's website.

Regards

Peter
