Default The Last Weekend

Well it's here , the last weekend of the Brown Trout season and it only seems like March a couple of weeks ago.

Does anyone have any special plans for this weekend?

How was the season for you and did it have any memorable moments. Did you beat your personal best or just have a particularly memorable day.

It'd be nice to hear some stories of this season's exploits

The seasons are changing every year...The fishing is erratic no consistency.
I was fishing tonight and had a lovely blue just under 2Ibs then lost one . Clan chief was the fly as it was earlier in the year, its a tremendous fly. I hope next year brings better stability in our weather but i wont hold my breath. Had good days and bad met some good guys through this forum and bought too many fly rods...

All the best for 2009

Alex

well......I was going to have one last bash at the Golden Loch tomorrow in Cupar but seeing as my season has come to a rod snapping end (see other thread!) I don't know if I should. I have a cheap masterline XL i keep as a back up so I could take that out. I found this season that Claret Hopper was my best fly, closely followed by floating fry best weight this season was a 5lb rainbow.........ACTUAL best was a 3lb rainbow which left me with pulled muscles!

Taken a day on by favourite water tomorrow...the Orchy. Great head of big trout but I will be out for salmon.

Sunday I am fishing my folks' wee dam. Great head of wild brownies but since I have moved east this season it has largely been unfished crying shame.

Use the masterline and get oot there james, abetter rod might improve your cast but a lesser rod will still catch fish.

What stretch are you on T, do you know if the Salmon get as far as Loch Tulla - just out of interest ?

Harelaw, Broonies, Sunday, sounds like a plan.

Generally a dissapointing season for me. The weather playing a huge part, rivers bank high one minute, dry the next.
Looking forward to the tail end of the salmon season and the grayling through the winter. Might have a bash at the pike, with a fly, over the winter to.
