Default Disastrous Day, Broken Fly Rod, Can Anybody Help???

A disastrous day...........today I went fishing on the Moncrieffe beat of the River Earn. 20mph wind, 8 degrees celsius (in the sun!), terrible mud on the banks and almost like quick sand in the water.................I managed to land one 4 or 5 oz brownie and then my "luck" ran out. I got snagged on a piece of grass of all things and suddenly I hear "crack"..........the top section of my rod has snapped clean in 2. Now how this can happen I dont know, I have landed many a 4 or 5lb trout on this rod and suddenly a blade of grass snaps it???? I must've caught it right on a weak point. So my question is............does anybody have a spare G-Series 9'6" 7/8 rod or top section and be willing to help me out? it's only the top section that's broke and I'm willing to pay.....I just need my fly rod back

Are you sure its not covered under an unconditional warranty by the manufacturer?

im not too sure. I've emailed Greys & the shop where I got it to see if they can do owt. I'd presume it's not cos technically it's "accidental damage"

it is covered by the greys lifetime warranty as i have a g series in a 9 ft 5 weight , the best thing to tell them is that it broke while casting which is a tecnical fault

Should be covered all right - I had a G-Tec tip replaced at the cost of the admin fee £25-00 2 weeks ago. As long as you have the bottom 4" of the section to send them for which they ask to ensure a match
very best of luck

I broke the top section of my Streamflex, pulling line through to hard
Sent 4" of section and £25 and new section arrived return of post....no questions about how damage occurred.
(This rod was bought 2nd hand)
I think they must be making money with £25 per section?

Good Luck
Joe

Not as much as they make at £190 for 4 sections.

A similar thing happend to me last season while salmon fishing on the Tummel. My Greys snapped clean mid cast...was almost greeting!!

Gutted esp as I was working on a forced secondment to the sh!thole they call London. Was about the only chance I had at Salmon for months.

Lesson learned...always carry a spare in the car. A rod is replacable, the lost memories of a spoilt day are not.

I emailed them when i broke mine and said i couldnt find my card they just told me to put in a jiffy and send it back with my details and £25 and the type of rod and weight.I suggest you do this and then you dont need a serial number.Considering i bought my grxi second hand with no warranty
