Default Amwell Magna Club

I am the treasurer of the above club who have about 1.5 miles of trout fishing on the river Lea and a part of the Ash. On account of the membership being rather elderly we anticipate a few not rejoining next season and thus want to build up our waiting list which is somewhat depleted at the moment.
The Lea is a chalkstream and we have a mayfly hatch and being next to a SSSI wildlife is abundant. The fishing is located just outside Ware which is beside Hertford. A link to the web is located below

If anyone is interested and would like more information please pm me

No frustrated stillwater anglers who would like to try some cheap chalkstream fishing?

Ditto the above post. I pass that way occasionally to visit my daughter in Bedford. As an occasional visitor it would have to be cost effective to be worthwhile. More details please.
cheers
Al.

How cheap is cheap?

Free Fishing casting to a rising Brown Trout in London on the most famous Chalkstream, the River Wandle.

Membership is £300 pa and a joining fee of £150. You can fish as often as you like including Sundays and are allowed up to 6 guests a year. The beat consists of about 1 and a bit miles of the Lea and just under 0.5 of a mile of the Ash which enters it. There is an excellent mayfly hatch although fly life outside it , as everywhere else, is limited. Upstream dry fly and nymph only is permitted and a max one fly at a time.
We stock 5-6 times a year with about 500-600 fish and the catch returns tend to result in about 700 fish caught for the season. Stocking is predominately browns with a sprinkling of rainbows both averaging 2.5lbs. There are almost 50 members but less than half fish more than once a season and it is very rare to see more than 3 anglers on visit even on the weekends. Setting is very pretty as river runs alongside a SSSI and flora and fauna is profuse. Catch and release is promoted although rainbows and a few browns per season can be retained.
Hope that helps.

Just a thought.

Given that the membership is dying off why not be really radical and actually try to 'construct' a self sustaining wild fishery?

Plenty of support, help and advice out there if you want it.

We introduce yearlings and have a very small head of wild fish but being next to a SSSI and a lake that Herts & Middx own that is open to twitchers have to stock with biggish fish otherwise our friendly cormorants have a field day.
