Default Is it hard going everywhere????

My club water, Tunstall reservoir is really hard going at the minute.

There are loads of fish in, but hardly any being caught by anybody.

September's been dreadful with last month pretty bad as well.

Nobody can quite understand why.

Are other places proving difficult (at best) currently??

Cheers

W

September can be a hard month as the browns get sex on their mind. but the rainbows normally get into fighting mode as the water cools down.
Have you tried going deep.

Jim

Hi Jim

I've tried everything bar dynamite!

Certainly at the minute deep is best.

Figures were posted up on Saturday.... as an example, May - 2,600+ fish caught, June and July - can't remember figures but in order of 1,500-2,000 caught, August - 500+ fish caught, September (to date) 161 fish caught.

Also as an example, on Friday 20+ anglers fished (quite a large weekday number for this water) fish caught - 0.

Saturday - when I left at 4.30 - 3 had been caught - all by dredging big lures.

Its that tail end problem of bright, cold often windy days and chilly evenings.

I was flicking through a club water's catch returns the other day. It was a wild brownie loch and they average recorded was about one or two fish a day over the last few weeks.

Salmon has been a bit touch and go as there was heavy rain a while back and not very much since.

I have had one brownie out of my last two loch trips and not even seen a salmon in my last two trips.
