Cool Float tube fish finders.....

Hi,
I have just returned from the superb weekend social at Thornton organised by the completefisher forum . I fished from my float tube and although this is a brilliant way to fish it does suffer the disadvantage of taking some time moving around under fin power. So it makes sense to make the most of each fishing area. As I drifted past one of the boats I could hear the occupants who were using a fish finder describing how many fish were under them and at what depth they were swimming at. So has anyone had any success fitting a FF to a float tube ?
Thanks and good fishing,
Andy.

Here's what you're after Andrew. If you can't get one here, import it from the States.

You can get an attachment strap for a tube. Have used one from the boat as I don't have an ft and they do the job. won't catch fish but will find 'em.

Thumbs up

yes, its easy - buy a cheapo finder like a piranha for about £50 - and a sealed 12volt 3ah alarm battery from ebay, about £15. attach the transducer to a piece of pipe with amalgamating tape, then find a way to attach the pipe to your tube so that the transucer face is facing vertically downwards- i use a couple of velcro straps. Bingo - finds the depths really well. Does show fish sometimes but thats not what its really for - its great for finding shoals, drop offs and ledges which might hold fish one day. You dont fish straight beneath the tube often so fish below you are more likely to indicate the depth the fish are moving at than show fish that you will actually catch.
