Default Set Up will this do ?

Going to lend a mate of mine some spare gear for Salmon fishing. The only thing I have spare is 13foot B&W 9 aftm but only have a no 10 floater to use on it. He has never spey cast before at all. However I seem to recall instructors with complete beginers who are struggling sometimes use an overweight line for the rod. So will set up be ok for him for a starter days Salmon with the slightly over rated line or should we revert to single hander? Thanks

I'm no expert regarding the plus's and minus's of a heavier line aiding spey casting instruction, but I would've thought a ten weight line on a 9 weight rod would be O.k.

The 10# will be fine, but get him to buy some polytips. Inter and slow sink.
