Hi Steve

You'll be hard pushed getting much info at the moment 'cos there are a lot of comp anglers on here and the National final is on Bewl next weekend.

Am sure week Monday though there will be some on the comp section giving up areas, flees and methods from the final.

Tightlines!

The Pirate.

I would look to take 3 lines, floater, intermediate and sinker (di 3), this usually covers most eventualities. Ive never fished Bewl so couldnt comment on the flies you might need.

I'll caveat my advice by saying that I now exclusively fish rivers and haven't fished Bewl for quite a few years. However, for what it's worth, I used to go there a lot and at that time of year remember doing very well with teams of mini-lures fished on floating and intermediate lines. You have the option of drifting, which is lovely, or mooring up either near the fish cages where a lot of fish cruise around (some big ones), or by the aeration pump, which I guess comes into its own in the hot months.

It's a big reservoir but the fishing can be great. I'm sure others will tell you to fish dries, buzzers, blobs etc, and I'm sure they'd be correct.

They're pretty helpful at the fishing lodge and have information on display about which bits of the reservoir are fishing well and which flies are working. They're also well stocked with decent flies.

Good luck.

Have a look here... http://www.bewl.co.uk/kent/file/flyfishing.php

Give the Lodge a ring for up to date info.

They also sell a great little booklet - Bewl Water Angler's guide An up-to-date, comprehensive guide to the reservoir, with detailed maps and explanations of how to find the hotspots.

Worth getting before you go.

15th September - Boat fishing continues to be excellent with many limits coming out from all over the lake. Floating and intermediate lines and a wide range of flies successful with Boobies still best. Bank fishing still variable but should become more consistent as month progresses. Water temperature remains at 17.2degC.
