Default Tewkesbury Heading North

Has anyone got any suggestions for a good day of river fishing before the season ends - around Tewkesbury or northwards keeping west of the M6 and south of Shrewsbury.

Any pointers on obtaining a ticket, species cost etc would be kind.

Not much about Tewekesbury unless you want to try fly fishing for big Zanda in the severn. Wye and Usk (and Monnow) are within an hour drive. Also the Coln in the Cotswolds has some good fishing - try the Bull Hotel in Fairford.
Other than that there is not much in the way of good rivers for trout nearby. If you want some stillwaters let me know and I can advise.

How about the Monnow/Arrow/Lugg Wye & Usk Foundation beats?

Hi SAB,

The Teme upstream from Tenbury Wells is supposed to have decent fishing? grayling, trout, etc

Near Ludlow you have both the river Onny and the upper Teme, the best idea would be to contact the local tackle shops in Ludlow, I'm sure they will know and sell day-tiickets for the waters available.

There is even an Orvis Store (U.K.) in Ludlow! They would be my first call!

Orvis, 8 High Street,Ludlow, Shropshire SY8 1BS, Phone: 01584 877876

Geographically, Ludlow is on the A49 (as the crow flies - pretty much on a direct line) from Tewekesbury to Shrewsbury. If you are diving that way, watch your speed there are plently of mobile / speed traps on the A49.

Thanks for these replies - I will look into them all. I have just noticed that Warrington Anglers Association have water on the Wye at Hay on Wye. It seems to be between Williams Timber Yard to past the sewage works - does anyone know anything about this stretch? Sewage
