If you're into rivers you must have noticed the Esk??
There used to be a water in Longtown for trout but I haven't heard about it for a long time. The trout farm near Brampton had a fly lake too but I can't think of the name. Or you could skip down the M6 to Penrith and there's Blencarn. If you go North, Moffat used to be good and is probably your best bet I'd say. I started a thread on a place called Watendlath in the trout fishing section and at a guess I'd say you are about 45 mins from there.
Tight lines.....

Hi Dils,

Have a at

http://www.fishannan.co.uk/

http://www.riverannan.co.uk/

If you are in the Gretna area then the Annan is definately worth a visit if the levels are okay, if not, then Broom Fisheries could be worth a visit? http://www.broomfisheries.co.uk/waters.html

With regards Penrith , then the following should help; http://www.fisheden.org.uk/

and a stillwater (albiet further south) is Bessy Beck which always gets get reports.http://www.fisheden.org.uk/content/view/79/175/

If you are still in the area on 4th October, then have a look at the following thread, a few of the guys from the forum are having a get together, I'm sure they'd make you welcome

FFF cumbria day - Bessy Beck

Hope that helps,

Default Penrith/Gretna Green Area

Hi, AMSDAD,
Oak Bank, Longtown now coarse only, I understand. Naworth Trout Fishery, just off ( Left ) of A69 is open, 8 acres, mixed rainbows and blues, usually. Spoke to Bob Bell, bailiff there on 'phone yesterday. All still waters, stocked
waters, around Penrith, Keswick, Tebay, area appear to be fishing probably better than average due to the rain. I would exclude Cocklake, just off A66, as I haven't fished it and it is still in its infancy. Don't like to slang it, but have not heard a good report while asking around Penrith.
Cheers, TC
