Default Repairing Breathable Waders

Hi,
usual story, getting over fence, slight snag in the crutch right alongside the seam.
Orvis iron on tape is useless but its a gesture to its customers.
Before I go to the bike puncture repair kit, or search for Tenacious Tape or Aquasure, has anyone out there actually repaired a leak themselves - successfully ?
Theres nothing worse than that first cold wet sensation, that at first you put up with and end up driving home at night time in your keks, praying you don't get stopped by the Police en route.
A few pointers and tips much appreciated.
Question: Why don't you ever hole the waders that you've had for years ? why is it always your new ones ?
Cheers and thanks for answers.

Hi

I had a Aquasure kit with patches in it, worked really well.

Had a pair of Vision waders repaired, all they did was smear Aquasure over the area in side the waders, job done.

Fixed more leaks that I can ever hope to count using aquasure (or its ilke) - even on some big tears. If the hole is really big then back it with some tape or a patch first. It really does work

I snagged my Orvis waders on the first outing - getting over a fence. Got some Aquasure (Orvis sent me a wader repair kit FOC) and all is perfectly OK now, did the job a treat, just a small patch and smothered in the Aquasure 100% dry now - it doesn't look too pretty but I hope no one is going to be staring up my crotch to see....

For an instant and durable repair there is a sun cure product (name escapes me) available from Sportfish that you can even apply to wet waders. Goes off in ten minutes or less, on a sunny day. repairs last for about two years, when it gets brittle but is easy to redo. Five rips (barb wire on my shin were repaired and I was dry wading ten minutes later. A tiny tube lasts for years and is completely reusable time after time - it does not dry or clog the nozzle.

I would not use anything else on my breathables.

If you're struggling with a DIY repair, send them to Aberdeen Fieldsports. They did an excellent job on mine for not much money.
