I'm going here at the end of October.

Is there any fly fishing in the area at this time? I will be mobile enough to travel a few hours outside.

Also are there any good tackle shops in this area?

Failing that i will order stuff to the hotel. TCO fly fishing, Cabelas, hook hack. Are there any other mail order sites worth looking at? I am after breathables

Go to Bass pro shop in festival bay, it's a massive hunting and fishing shop and has a small fly fishing section with some good stuff. It had sage, st croix and a few other makes when i went.

As for fishing the best place would be to drive down to the keys if you have the time. There's a lot of bass fishing locally, but i'm not sure about fly fishing. The bass guides are a bit of a rip off even with the exchange rate.
