Default York

Does anyone know which tackle shops in York have a good selection of fly fishing gear? I prefer to have a go with a rod before buying so online is out.

Many thanks

Plodger

Best Fly fishing shop in York is Hooks and Tackle,,, Chas Barnes prop... He is a great bloke. But he does not stock a large range of rods . He sells his own " burns built rods" built on Harrison blanks,,, I have two I recomend them

Remember there is a new Orvis Shop in Pickering you could give James the manager a ring and see what he has in...

On Friday I landed 37 in the pouring rain at Starr Carr from my tube. Red Diawl Bach and a brown muddler were the best flies. Most were about 2-3 lb with a couple nearer 4 lb, all rainbows.

Sat was slightly drier, just a bit more lightening but only about 15, mostly on Red Diawl and a klinkhammer.

The temps dropped a bit here so the fish really picked up and on the plus side I had the whole lake to myself both days.
