Default My record fish beat within a week.

So heres me a few weeks back sat on lav (sorry probably too much info) reading last months FF&FT article on Grassholme and thought to myself go on give it a go. So i did, the very next day with my 10 year old daughter, £20 for 8 fish.

I told jess (my daughter) lets just walk the bank for a while, watch the water and see whats happening, i was not exspecting to see mush as it was quite windy and not the best conditions for fish taking off of the top.

However after a short walk and just to prove how little i know of trout, i saw them, loads of them, taking off of the top in really choppy, windy conditions.

Well to the point, after 5 fish of about 2lb a piece all taken on a CDC & Deer hair sedge i thought i would try a Damsel nymph under the surface, and it worked taking an 8Lb 7oz Blue. On returning to the fishing lodge i was told by the Ranger it was the biggest fish taken in ages and the biggest blue taken this year, you could win a free days fishing i was told.

So home i went keeping an eye on the web sight for the weekly report chuffed with the fish and the chance of a return (free) day when it happened.

Some bloke went and caught a 9lb 8oz blue, but as read on thats not the worst, he caught in coarse fishing with ledgered pink powerbait eggs..

GUTTED! but thats fishing.

I think i will try Hury next its fly only.

Mick
