Default A change of seasons!

Is it me or do you feel that Summer has now departed and Autum is on it's way?

As it's rained pretty much continually through August, the rivers have had plenty of water and reservoirs such as Stocks, etc, are full to over flowing, which is great for the fish and fishing.

It's just that I feel like I haven't seen the sun for weeks, the days are cloudy and overcast and I definatly feel the season has changed, and we'll soon be counting down the days to the end of the salmon and brown trout season on many of our rivers.

Hopefully, we still have some excellent fishing to look forward to; the end of season trout fishing - when the fish have recovered from the muggy summer days, and also, fresh sunny days when the grayling still rise freely, before the crisp frosts of the freezing winter days arrive.

Let's hope for a mild Autum, with plenty of successful fishing days!

I agree - there is a definite autumnal feel to the air - and I need to store up some more memories for the short wet days (as opposed to the long wet days) when I'll be spending more time tying fies than losing them!

Very nice, with a glass or two of a respectable claret.

I think we had our Summer in May!

With only a few very hot days in mid to late July, I guess our Summer has been and gone.

August seems to have been a wash out (well the early part of it), at least all the rain was good for the salmon and sea trout, only problem is when they rivers are 4 to 5 feet up and chocolate brown....... nobody can fish them!

You’ll have no excuses for being short of flies come next season!

At least we still have plenty of fishing to look forward to…………

I'm going stir crazy.

I have a load of new kit to try out, 5 days in the Eden valley from the 8th and if it's not fishable I think I'm going to cry.

GADZ!

Hi Sunrider,

Are you sure you are on the right river?

The river conditions on the Kirby Stephen website say it's fishable! http://www.kirkbystephen.net/blog/

Get yourself further up river, where it should have dropped quicker!

The "Go Wild in Eden" scheme http://www.go-wild.org.uk/index.htm have fishing at Musgrave Bridge
which I believe is a Kirby Stepehn water although it's not listed, give then a call and go and collect a book of tickets and guide to the waters, and I'm sure you'll be able to find somewhere to fish!.

If the Kirby Stephen report says it's fishable then Musgrave Bridge is worth trying? http://www.kirkbystephen.net/waters/musgrave/index.htm Especially as it's above most of the tributaries, like the Eamont, where extra water would be entering the river, the upper reaches will always run off and clear first!
