Default River Euchar

Hi, Stephen,
Back in drought year,1984,stayed with two pals at Knipoch, in a rented chalet overlooking main road and ( sea ) Loch Feochan. Had fishing on a couple of lochs, including Scammadale, from which the Euchar flows. It was a little river, typical small, Highland burn; but we found two small salmon stuck in isolated pools. We fished the loch from a boat. My mates got out and left me to dap for sea trout. Rose ten fish, missed three sea trout and four browns, landed three small trout.
Watched the local plumber netting the sea loch, all he caught ---- school grey mullet. With this summer's rain, Euchar ( if it's the same one ) would certainly be better prospect than in 1984!!
Don't know if that helps.
Cheers, and good luck,
TC
PS No, we didn't net those two salmon out. It would have been far too easy!!

its very much a spate river, but you do get the odd salmon running when it is not in spate. the flys that worked for me was a size ten allys ans a 12 willie gun. lots of seatrout run the river but most of them where quit small under 1lb.
the mouth of the river can offer great sport for seatrout and the are plenty off brownies in the pools above.

When in spate is the time to fish , Some great browns in the lower river as well , I caught all my browns on small bead headed nymphs

If you want sea trout ( Small Sea Trout) wait for spate.
