Default front drag reel...does anyone know what it means?

Hi

I'm not sure if this type of reel is used in flyfishing (maybe coarse only), but does anyone know what is meant when a reel is described as 'front drag'?

Thank you

Yes it's a coarse/spinning reel, with the clutch washer situated at the front of the spool, tighten it increases drag and vica versa.

It's a fixed spool reel where the drag is quite literally at the front of the reel. A crude description of it how it works would be that the extent of the drag is dependent on how tightly the spool is screwed down.

Understood. Thank you. I saw another one described as 'rear drag', which presumably has said clutch washer at the rear of the reel.

It didn't upset me - I was merely pointing out that you were very rude.

So what's your preference - to screw from the front or the back?
