I just use a Pike hook with tinsel for a body, some tinsel as an underwing and then some EP fibres as an over wing - I then put on some sticky on eyes - I use many colors of EP fibre.

I am going to start epoxying the body and head though as they get chewed up easy - an alternative is to use 20lb mono over the body which should keep it intact!

Pike will take chocolate wrapper tied on a hook, so I just improvise with various combinations of the sparkly yarns on the market. Use them to wrap a body too. Maribou and rabbit zonker strips are also fab. additions. 2 stage epoxy on the head. To get really serious I'd say weed guards are a must. I tie mine with stiff flouro, whipping well round the bend so it actually works. If the fly looks like a boss-eyed tart with a spangly dress on, it'll catch a pike.

Have a look in the fly tying step by step section of the forum. There used to be a canadian lady called Jocelyn who gave excellent descriptions and photo's of tying flies and in particuar some very good pike flies.

Regards
