Default Bessy Beck

I booked a ticket to fish this venue on saturday,on the advice of a friend,we arrived lunch time to find 3 lakes, one a bait fishing only which seemed to be busy with families and children, the second which was a beginners fly fishing lake, and then the largest, the 'island' lake which was for more experienced fly fishermen.I purchased my 'island' ticket from the small well stocked tackle shop, while my good lady who wanted to come along for the day went and had a chat with one of the guys who was netting some stock fish for the beginners pools.Everyone was very friendly, polite and keen to pass on any info as to the fishing/fishery.Fishing wise,I was told at the start 'you may struggle today, what with the cool breeze and sunshine'.We headed to the far end of the lake,to crystal clear water where a few trout could be seen, taking nymphs and the odd fly off the surface. To cut the story short,I took 4 fish in around 3 hrs, keeping 3 of them(3 fish then C & R),3 coming to either a shipmans or 16 black emerging buzzer, and the other to a pearl holo Diawl Bach. All in all it wasn't an easy day, fishing wise, but it was a lovely venue, very nice staff,a fine tea room and facilities, and I will definitely go back to this well run fishery.
Well done Bessy Beck, this is how a fishery should be run,for both beginner and the more experienced alike.

Hi Cowie, glad you enjoyed yourself, not the biggest but one of the best run as you say.
Ian and Shelly who own it have gone to great lengths to satisfy the fisherman who attend.
There are some good fish in the big lake and always a warm welcome. excellent in winter as they have a nice woodburner in the rest room for lunch.
Tight lines Steven
