Default BBC Radio 5's Richard 'coke head' Bacon having a go at angling

Seems the Corporation are out making enemies of the UK's anglers. Richard 'Coke Head' Bacon and his Radio 5 producers invite animal rights extremists PeTA to have a pop at fishing. It can be heard at

those annoyed by the tone/content/very fact that our licence fees are being spent on this stuff might want to vennt their spleen here

I picked the story up on the Fishing Magic forum, here

Clearly PETA are a deeply unpleasant bunch, but there's not much point having a phone-in debate if you're not going to have someone representing both sides. I thought Richard Bacon was OK though. It's just a shame that the bloke from the Angling Times who was supposedly representing angling was so useless.

By the way fast forward it to about 2hrs 10min to find the angling bit.

If only PETA put in as much effort into protesting against the over commercial fishing of our shores

There are a number of broadcasters who have a desperate need to fill their schedule with a story, any story. PETA is an organised publicity seeking organisation who will provide many stories and therefore they get the airtime, we "quiet" anglers are an easy target and we will remain so until we are organised and get media savy.

Got my strongly-worded official complaint into the BBC this a.m. Will wait to see what response - if any - ensues.

This is where we need a professional Angling Unity spokesman to step into the studio. The Countryside Alliance have the experience, but, apart from the S&TA infighting fiasco, no one seems to have thought of involving them - even just for advice!

Regards,

Doc

These z list celebs with drug addled brains **** me off. Anyway, looking forward to participating in the forums and adding my two penneth.

Coming, as you do from Armagh, they'll probably take that threat quite seriously!

Welcome to the FFF.
