Default Derbyshire in September

missus is indulging her hobby in september and doing some jewellry/beading classes in Derbyshire (I have no idea where yet.I just drive!!)

but I figure I will indulge my hobby while I'm there...now I'm gueesing there will be a fair bit of fishing..I am more experienced in still water than rivers...

so what would be people recomendations?

I am aware of the larger reservoirs such as ladybower, but have no idea whether its better from bank or boat etc..

so any tips much appreciated

Get some experience on rivers...

Monsal Dale & Peacock Hotel both do day tickets on a limestone river called the Derbyshire Wye.

Default Trip

Carsington near Ashbourne from a boat, best stocked Ressie I've ever fished and Foremark Ressie is excellent aswell.
On a smaller scale Press Manor, Barlow Lakes, Alton Manor or if you fancy a river then treat yourself to a day on the Wye with Wild rainbows and all on Peacock waters.

Good Luck

Mick

Travelled to Foremark earlier in the year. A superbly run fishery which I would highly recommend.

Your nearest reservoir will be Errwood, £12 day ticket for 3 fish. Tickets from Smithy Tackle Box in Whaley Bridge: Errwood is 10 minutes out of Whaley Bridge. It can be easy or difficult depending on weather - it is a typical, peaty upland reservoir with little natural food.

But get on the Wye. Superlative river fishing, especially that section kept by a bloke called Warren.

Default Errwood

Added this to the end of another thread but thought it could be of use here as well .......

Just to say anyone interested in fishing Errwood Reservoir can now find all the necesary information at

http://www.effc.co.uk

last year was a great season with fish to 5lb being landed as well as the regular sized fish and native brownies.

The fishery has changed its day ticket outlets and is in the process of adding a few more outlets. It has also revamped its bailiffing staff and stocking numbers.

Day tickets for the Errwood 2009 season are now £15 for 3 fish.
(You must leave after killing your 3rd fish but can release any caught until that point!)

Whaley Bridge is 42 minutes from the Peacock at Rowsley, according to multimap.

You can download some information and articles from the Peacock website to get you in the mood...

I'd go on the Peacock water on the Wye, hire a guide if you're inexperienced on rivers. I used Bernie Maher for half a day - well worth it!

Regards
