Get down to Homebase or similarand buy some some thicker rope and metal clips. swap the thin string on the drogue for this. Far easier to get a grip of and more sturdy. My ropes are around 10 feet. Where you attach it depends on the boat. If you attach each end via a g-clamp to either end of the boat it will give you the smoothest drift rather than pivoting round a central point. You can also motor round without pulling the drogue in using this method as it will automatically collapse when you move forward. Just be careful it doesn't flap too near the engine however. If you still want to pull the drogue in, try attaching a third rope to one of main ropes, which you attach to your boat seat. Saves getting up, as you can collapse it and pull it in without getting up every time. Last edited by Tammy-troot; 22-05-2008 at 11:21 AM. |

The carabiner type for the ropes that attach to the boat. http://www.homebase.co.uk/webapp/wcs...erms=carabiner When you find them in homebase, there will sturdy clips for the drogue end nearby. |

I have screwed three vine eyes along each side of my thwart rail, & clip the two ropes to these - varying the position according to the wind, and how I want to set up the drift. ( One eye always redundant). Saves messing about with G clamps. If you are not using your own boat, make the ropes a couple of feet longer, and loop the ropes round the seats.
When changing drift, steer the boat into the same side that the drogue is fitted, which will turn the stern and motor away from the drogue.

G-clamps are the only way to guarantee the best drift with a para-drogue. Ropes around the seats just aren't good enough. |
