Default Sonik SK3 rod experiences?

I probably should have asked before buying but i bought an SK3 today. Bit of an impulse buy but i have been looking to buy a rod in the near future. I am a river novice so hopefully this rod will suffice as my first small river/stream rod.

Has anyone owned or used one? I went for the 8ft 3/4wt. Cost was reduced to £45. Looking online it seems this is a decent price.

A really good rod. I don't have the lighter line weight one like you describe, but the 9'6" 6/7 wt is a cracker.
One of my mates also has one and really likes it. I seem to remember that the lighter rods in the range were well received by the angling press when released, and are regarded well by river anglers.

Hope this helps.

Cheers,

Keith

Good buy there, a rod well suited for what you plan, med to tip action slightly more towards med.
Pair it up with a wf4 floating line from PP (Pitsford Pirate) and you will have a combination which will roll cast well and flickout size 20 dry flies all day.
I can reccomend this as I have one and when shown to others persuaded them to buy one as well.
Great for close quater upstream nymphing, dry fly evening rise on both rivers and small stillwaters.

Sounds promising. I do need to get a small reel and line now and waders and net.......the list goes on. I have had a PP line before so may well go for the #4.

I have the same rod you have just bought, and have really enjoyed using it.

I bought a 9" 5/6# about 2 years ago for small waters, i ended up using it for all my fishing from boat to bank on all waters. It handled browns to 10lb and rainbows to 14lb. But most of all it was strong enough to cast a full line, but soft enough for me to use 6lb leaders for all my fishing.
