You need to get in touch with the EA for England,or SEPA for Scotland.Sorry to hear about it.You must be ''REALLY'' carefull not to transmit it to other fisheries.

You don't state where you are, if it's in Scotland contact SEPA or FRS 01224 295525

Best regards
Jim

Jim got in before me, (no bad thing as he's very knowledgable) but you may take a read at this http://www.scotland.gov.uk/Uploads/D.../Lice%20v3.pdf

The weather will have a big affect on them.
We had a bad spell of lice on the Avon and Clyde last year, biologists said it was down to a long hot spell of weather which seams to hae been correct.

Briefly.

Only way is to drain lochs and leave fallow to kill eggs in the silt.

By continuous restocking only supplies more hosts to feed on and increase the reproduction of lice and will not solve the problem.Less hosts less lice.

To stop the transfer to other waters supplying fishery nets will help and also on catch and release, nets shouldnt be required. If one water has it there is always the chance of spread to other waters and great care is required by everyone.

A quick dip of a net Does not help, it requires at least 10 minutes in a net dip.

that's something i could never understand Kevin a "quick dip" when the Spring Viraemia of Carp http://www.defra.gov.uk/aahm/files/Guide-SVC.pdf was rife ,they needed a damn good soaking yet most fisheries allowed people to bring there own landing and keepnet's and give them a quick dip before fishing

Thats very true Bruce,no good having a dip if its not used correctly.

Marine Scotland did a sample test placing argulus in pure vodka and were amazed at how long they survived in it,so the dilution of water and cleaner has to be correct or it is a waste of time.
