Hi brittney,

Hmmm some nice choices there. Think I'd plum for the Simms. It has all the necessary bits and pieces, looks v smart and Simms have a good reputation.
I'm sure he would be impressed lucky duck.

Chris.

Think I'd lean to the Simms as well. I like large pocket or two on my vest!

I'ld go with the fishpond since I prefer the pack aspect and have discovered that those fold down fly boxes are extremely convinient when in the water.

Take care

I'd have to go with the Simms waistcoat. I just purchased the Airflo chest & backpack, Great value & an all round good vest.

Hi Britney

If he needs on of those items - go get.
If you are looking for something different then take a look at Blue Ribbon Flies site and ponder one of the 'Dutch' fly boxes. Excellent quality and a unique pressie as each one is different.

The Simms would be my first choice, hope that helps.

I'd go for the Simms for the reasons given above.

The Fishpond looks good, particularly if he does a lot of wading but the "One size fits most" would worry me if he has a large build. In my experience one size rarely does.

Where will he be fishing? If he is going to fish anywhere where he has to creep and crawl to hide from the fish then a vest is not a good idea. Especially if the vest has pockets concentrated on the front of his body.

Better to use a bag.

If you get him a Brady Ariel Trout bag it will last him a long time, mine is still usable after 42 years of regular use.

Large Ariel Trout with liner

Shop around as the prices are often discounted.

Dump him lass, if hes getting into fly fishing as your future is bleak, a fishing widow
Unless you buy yourself a vest and gear and start fly fishing yourself

Good luck with the choice of vest, I'm sure he will like it whichever one you pick.
