Re: Lozere Region of France
Hi Cody;
I'll try and look up some information on these rivers and the lake but have never fished them. There's a lot of advice on this forum concerning greyling and roach, all you have to do is search using the words.
In my opinion the best way to catch greyling in that area in July will be via Czech or French nymphing during the day and it will probably be the same story with the browns as it will be hot. Dries will work best very early in the morning before the day heats up or late in the evening and I'ld make sure to have some beetle patterns in your fly box. Roach will hit on small nymphs or on small dries through the day but once again I'ld put my money on nymphs in July. For dries on greyling and roach go with very small black flies: F-flies, griffith's gnats, Sturdy's fancy, renegades, double badgers, black ants. All tied on size 16 maximum. Greyling seem to have a preference for pink or orange colors on nymphs so you can try with either a solid color or a hot spot.
Take care
Terry
