Default WTD: Info on Beginners Fly Rods / Kits

Hey everyone,

Looking for a bit of advice here, I have a friend whom I am teaching to fly fish, the only problem is that I need to get him a beginners Rod/Reel and the accessories to match. Now, he has been learning to cast with my Sage XP which is not exactly a beginners rod I know - so I am out to get a bit of advice on possible options. So far I have considered:

- Airflo Fly Fishing Kit (Small Stillwater & River) £60.00
- Greys GS2 Fly Rod (from £70)/ Airflo Balance Reel (£30.00)
- EX-Demo Enigma Matrix #6/7 9ft6" for £75

I was thinking of something in the 6-7wt and 9ft-9ft6" range with a mid action. He wants to spend a max of £80 on a rod, £30 for a reel and then whatever for the accessories. Would anyone have any experience of the above products OR have any other suggestions in those price brackets??

Thanks in advance,

H

Have a look at the Shakespeare Odyssey and Trion range.

Great, Thanks for the advice guys.

I hadn't looked at the Shakespeare range - look like they are providing good quality rods at great prices!

Thanks for the info.
