Default Beginners fly fishing in or near County Louth, Ireland

Hi

I am a relative beginner to fly fishing only having been 3 times but really like the sport so far.

I am going on a family holiday to County Louth, Ireland in June and was going to try and fit a days fishing in.

Has anyone got any recommendations of where i could go that would be suitable for a beginner. I have only fished on still waters so not sure but fishing a river may be pushing it?

Thanks all

Steve Deakin

You could conceder crossing the boarder into Cavan and fish Lough Sheelin but would really need a boat and guide.
You could take Jungle Bunny up on one of his fund raising offers if you wanted to travel a little further to either Loughs Conn, Corrib or Melvin.
I think you need a weeks fishing not just a day mate

I am starting a guiding service in the midlands soon I can supply boat, engine and all tackle if you want and of course expert advice
If I was taking you I would go to lough lene or owel and it is relatively close to Louth.
Sheelin could be difficult at time of year
You will love it where ever you go
