Default Need help figuring out scottish law

Hello,
I fish the river almond in perthshire, and as far as i can figure out, its not owned by a single person.
Supposedly each homeowner who buys a house on the banks, owns part of the river.
However, my dad has fished the river for 25 years and has been told by home owners that he and friends and family can fish it all and its ok with them. However, ive now just read on the google that part of the almond is or atleast was under the River Tay Protection Order.

I just need help figuring it out. Because you need a permit to fish the river tay and its protected rivers, but weve been given full permission to fish the river whenever we want.

Though id also add that the river is unstocked.

Thanks for any help you guys can give.

Neil

Neil, local by-laws may or may not apply. It's all down to owns the rights on certain stretches of water.
I'm sure, but don't quote me, that there used to be some ruling on un-stocked waters. Something about non migratory fish.

Yeah like i said above, weve been given permission by the land owners to fish it, but the almond was at one point in the River Tay Protection order, just cant figure out whether its still in it or not. These fishing laws are confusing things. I know that if it is, you have to pay a permit fee, however, i thought that there would have been signs or notices up the banks of the river, but i guess not.

Surprisingly, the only time ive even seen bailiffs on the banks was when the salmon were coming up. so it might not be.

PO stands for the river Tay ''System'' as long as you have Written permission from an owner or proprietor or tennent. then you have no problem.word of mouth is no good.No signs neccessary
