There is some decent Brown trout fishing on the North Tyne from Bellingham up to Falstone (just below the dam). You can get tickets for the Falstone stretch from the Black Cock pub in Falstone itself. The Riverdale Hotel also has as stretch of fishing through the village itself. It is free to guests but I think they also do day tickets. Give them a ring to confirm
There is also the River Rede to fish which is very close to Bellingham. Some excellent trout fishing can be had on there and they are quite willing to rise to a dry fly. If you need a guide I can recommend Gary Proudlock for the Rede. Contact Otterburn Hall Hotel for permits
The Coquet near Alnwick is a popular stretch to fish. Northumberland Anglers Federation have several miles of water and we can do permits for you in the shop for the Brown Trout fishing
For the Grayling you really need to head to the River Till or Tweed. If you contact the Posta Office in Ford village they can put you in touch with Brian Thompson, the river keeper for the Till. Day tickets are available. For the Tweed you would be better to book through FishPal as there are numerous beats controlled by different owners/clubs
You also have an abundance of stillwaters in the area. You have Chatton Lakes at Chatton near Wooler. Ali and Roger will assure you of a warm welcome and good fishing. You also have the two large reservoirs of Fontburn (near Rothbury) and Kielder (near Bellingham). Both are controlled by Northumbrian Water. For boat fishing you have the very scenic Sweethope Lough (not far from Bellingham) which can fish very well. There is also Caistron Lakes near Rothbury (close to Alnwick) which is located in the Coquet Valley and is very scenic and also a SSSI. Good hard fighting trout there in gin clear water
