Default frozen rod rings

Any tips to prevent rod rings freezing up in this chilly weather, does glycerin work?

Ditto...stay in doors! Fishing is supposed to be pleasurable, when it gets to that stage, all the funs gone. Pick your days.

There's never a bad day to go fishing though, I would of been out today throwing dead budgies but everywhere has frozen overnight.

Not sure if this helps or is what you are looking for, but Kilnsey is spring fed, so the first lake rarely if ever freezes. Glycerin will sort your rod rings out.

Good luck.

I can handle frozen rings, dip in the river and its a temp. fix. Frozen centrepin slightly more annoying....we were out in -6 yesterday a tad chilly. The line froze to the reel drum constantly and then the reels began to seize up.
still better than daytime telly we did get fish so very worthwhile

I've had that happen too, the centrepin gets slower and slower throughout the day, also had my fly reel freeze solid whilst Czech nymphing.

Besides going fishing isn't all about catching you get to see winter grab nature by the bones and even though it's often uncomfortable on the toes wading in minus figures I'd still rather be fishing
