Default 10lb Thames Trout!

Interesting story here:

Kiwi pulls "record" 10lb trout from Thames near Putney (From Your Local Guardian)

Legendary Thames Trout?

Or manky escaped Rainbow?

Would have said it was a bow by the shape of the upper head and the tail. Also appears to be a strip on the side.

why is it dead? surely he would have returned the fish no matter what kind of trout it was, that is not even going down the "season" route or the fact that his coarse licence will not entitle him to remove migratory fish from the river?

It's a Rainbow Trout not a Brown, Sea or Slob Trout as is stated in the article.

I sent them this

'That's a Rainbow Trout not a Sea or Slob Trout. You can tell by the magenta stripe along it's side. It has probably been washed out of a fish farm at some time'

That is a manky escapee 'Bow, no out of season for them and probably a good job it got clipped, those things will hoover up coarse eggs.

Bows should not be in UK rivers IMHO, even though we have breeding populations on a couple such as the Derbyshire Wye, they are not indigenous and only mess with our ecology.
