Default 9 ft 3 wt

on the look out for a 9ft 3wt reasonibly fast actioned rod, in and about the 200 pound range. some of the smaller rivers/big streams down this way have very wary trout and the 5wt i do most of my fishing with seems a little over kill. any reccomendations, new or second hand would be appreciated.

Check out the Canadian prices thread and the Canadian eBay loop seller.

Really it is a great rod.

... Except for the cork which is the worst I've ever held and it has a really cheap sound when a beaded nymph hits the rod ....

Try tracking down a 2nd hand z-axis, I use a 9 3wt that I built last year, works really well and will put out a good long line when needed so a good compromise if you are stepping down in weight.

If you are unlucky and have to pay duty I think it's 3.7% for fishing gear plus VAT (20%), you will also have to pay the RM or PF a daft over the top collection fee it ranges from £8 - £13 depending on service, the seller cannot really help with quoting for duty etc, best to have a word with him he could help out .

If you google duty calulator you should find a few pieces of software that will do the maths for you, good luck..

Interesting and timely. Today I've tried Steve Parkes 10ft 3wt which is sweet as a nut, but with super smooth recovery in the tip. I

f you're interested, you can find him at AtomSix custom built fly rods by Stephen Parkes
