Hi All
Was at Alderneuk yesterday near Dumfries and managed an awesome new PB.
My PB before this was 4pound 12oz, now its 12.5pounds.
Check out this monster in a greys 22inch wide net :-



It was a very healthy fish and fighting fit, put up an awesome scrap and did some epic runs.
Caught it on a black rabbit, the retreave was very slow figure of 8 with the odd we jerk too.
Im still buzzing today. Thought my bext fish might be 5, then maybe 6 or 7 but jumping up to 12.5pounds was a great feeling.
Thought my 6 weight rod was gonna break and when the fish did its runs it was pulling me off balance and nearly into the loch, such a powerful creature.
I always imagined a big fish being obese and having no energy but this fish was properly proportioned and as fit as a fiddle.
When it was in the net it looked like a giant steelhead.

Wow, what a start to the year, Alderneuk is a truly awesome venue.
