Default Quick Gear Question

Hey all,

I'm very new to this and got a 4/5 wt rod. (This one:
Amazon.com: Okuma Crisium Fly Rod: Sports & Outdoors Amazon.com: Okuma Crisium Fly Rod: Sports & Outdoors
)

However, I mistakenly also got a 6wt line. Do I need to return the line, or will this be OK?

Thanks!

Depends on where you're going to fish. You may struggle to throw a 6wt line any distance, but you may find it nice to use whilst short lining on smaller streams.

But speaking generally, I want to have it be as smooth as possible. Is this a problem?

Dunno mate. If the rod has a soft through action it might not like being over lined with a heavier rated line, but if it's a stiffer rod then it would handle it better.

Stick the line on and go round your local park and test cast on the grass and get a feel for it. If it doesn't suit, give it a wipe down, re-spool it, and return it for a 5wt lol.
