Default Anvil atlas help needed

Hi
I have purchased an Anvil atlas as an upgrade from my old Regent vice. However I have found that the stem is too small for me when mounted in the C clamp just not enough clearance from the jaws to the table I am talking a matter of 3 inches max. With being used to the longer stem on my Regent vice it has spoilt me. Is there any way that I can extend the stem on my anvil atlas or purchase a set of rods that will fit the C clamp and raise my vice from the table I recall watching a video of R Winram using such a set up when tying flies on game fishers diary. I have got the pedestal base but that is not much different from the c clamp.
Hope so because this is spoiling what I consider to be an extremely good vice.

Any ideas or suggestions welcomed.

Bob

Is it just the clearance between the vice and table that is the issue, or is it just that the jaws are too low relative to you, the tier? If the latter, you could put some wooden blocks under the table legs to lift the height of the whole table. If the former, can't help, I'm afraid!

If you have a longer G clamp (from a drogue set up would do), mount the vice on the base at 180deg from the jaws with a block of wood underneath and clamp the lot to your table, voila!

Thanks for your replies lads but just after posting this thread I was looking through an old copy of GAC fly tying goods and have found the exact thing I have been looking for it is an adjustable L piece which actually raises the whole vice away from the table just got to wait for it to be delivered now.
Once again thanks.
Regards
Bob

Not great when you have to buy an extension piece for a new vice though is it !.I have an apex and find plenty plenty of room between jaws and table, strange that the anvil is only 3" from the bench.Looking at other posts I may have read this wrong.Your sorted now so happy wrapping .
