Default brassie and other chironomids, stillwater?

Hello, So I never really fished still water with chironomids sub surface. My only size 18-22 are dry fly hooks and not nymph hooks. Could I put a small bead on and bend the body of the hook so it looks more like a nymph? My local shop has a small selection of hooks. This is all for tying larve/pupa midges in stillwater.

Any fly recipes or info would be great.

Thanks for reading,

You need to post this in the "fly tying forum" mate.

I personly wouldnt bend a shank on a hook, i will sometimes offset a point if i feel i am missing fish i shouldnt be. There are loads of suppliers on here that supply hooks, so i would go down that route. Also buzzers when hatching are straight, so tye some up straight.

I agree with Sarg.

I strongly suspect that the curved buzzer type hook appeals more to the angler than the fish. Tying them on straight hooks should be fine.

As for patterns, there are several in the SBS on here.
