I am after recommendations as to the best rod action for spey casting with a single handed fly rod.

What wiould you recommend as the best rod action:-

1. fast action
2. Medium Fast
3. Medium
4. slow

Help appreciated.

I have some casting instruction booked tomorrow but wanted to start looking for a new fly rod as mine has now seen better days.

Would be looking for a rod around 7ft 6in - 8ft 6in 3 or 4wt.

My current fly rod is an unbranded 7ft 6in fly rod with just the 3# marked on it.

I'd personally go for a switch style fly rod.

Are they available in small size 3-4 wt.

Am I right in saying that the line rating on a switch fly rod is appropriately 2 time greater than standard AFTM scale.

the rod needs to bend, with faster rods you can over line by one line weight to achieve that, but this is perhaps not ideal.
