Welcome to the forum Telecaster. Lots of forum members on here from the Lancs, Cheshire, Derbyshire area. I'm hesitant about directing you towards the current Lancsy Lads thread because you'll get the (arguably accurate) impression that they are as mad as a box of frogs. They occasionally mention fishing and less frequently get out and wet a line. Some of them have been known to avoid a blank.

What sort of fly fishing are you hoping to do. richardw is the self-appointed 'expert' (his quotation marks) on Dry Fly on Derbyshire rivers and streams and his blog a ready source of local advice.

Use the search function I'm sure you'll turn up more advice than you can digest on this forum.

Telecaster, there are a few things going on in Stockport(SK?) Ennio from here runs a casting club near Stockport Fly Fishing shop on Shaw Road in Heaton Moor, that is on Saturday mornings, have a look on the casting thread for more info.

Tony and Steve at the fly fishing shop are a mine of information as well
