Default Whats the best brand of ketchum

Thinking about buying a ketchum and was wondering is there much difference between all the different brands? Are they easy to use? Any info on them would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Alex

Forget the ketchum style, get a good coarse fishing hook release, plastic or aluminum for 1/10th the price. I use one branded EX-ceed Large one is fine down to size 18 hook

I use a ketchum release for salmon and seatrout fishing. First they are truly hopeless if you use barbed doubles - I have tried in the past. They work well for most singles and all of the time with barbless and as I only use barbless hooks they are perfect for that.

the reason i use them... they flatten barbs, long reach for deep hooking and they will cope with salmon flees, cut mono and clean hook eyes. in my opinion the welfare of the fish is more important than a flee....they can also be operated with gloves on/freezing hands.

I use forceps at the moment but they chew buzzers and small nymphs up badly. Just looking for away to maybe avoid this. I am thinking about the damage to the fish thats why am looking at different ways to release them without having to handle them
