Default Allerthorpe lakes

What are the lakes fishing like at the moment? Looking to go somewhere different soon and seen them on the troutmasters calendar.

If it helps, assuming you mean the Allerthorpe Lakeland complex for all things watersports - I called in to see the place in passing late last year - as they used to advertise trout fishing etc - the story we got, in a very friendly way, was that the place was now under new ownership and that for the time being the pond(s) were basically any method and I think it was a fiver a day to take your chance and to release anything you may catch ..... I think they were assuming there were still some trout left in there in amongst the coarse fish. They were debating what to do with the lakes in 2012 and whether to do the whole stocking and trout fishing thing again but that had not been decided at that point.

So that was basically what we were told, as I say in a very friendly way, but certainly seemed to be treated simply as a 'general fishing pond' at present with the possibility of being as trout fishery again this year perhaps ....

The camping / caravanning area looked quite smart and the cafe seemed to be booming so some things are definitely being looked after there !

Hope this helps,

cheers Paul.

Didn't realise the situation of the lakes. I assumed they were up and running after being advertised on the calendar. On their website they mentioned trout fishing and showed a bloke with a fly rod. Might take a wander down anyway to have a look. Thanks

Stuart
