Default Airflo sixth sense di7

Phoned Airflo with a complaint my DI7 has pink strips on it.

The customer service lady could not help so she transfered me to their experienced fly fisherman.

He informed me that this is a depth finder so I know how much line I have out.

What concerns me is where the markings are the line is much thicker but tapered.

How will the line cast with so many tapers on it

Any advice would be greatfully received

If you're already used to a fast sinker I think you'll be ok. Rajeff lines are generally among the best, and I'd be surprised if those markers had any effect on how your line will cast. I don't have experience with that particular one; however, I've used other Airflo lines and know a lot of others who use them here locally. I can't recall hearing anything negative about them.

That said, those markers may be more of a gimmick than anything but they certainly won't hurt you. Best of luck!

The orange markers on the line are to indicate how much like you have left outside the tip of the rod.

It is designed to help you fish the 'Hang' showing you how deep your flies are (to an extent)

Each marker is at 10 feet from the front end of the line at 3 different intervals (I think).. I haven't used the di7 as yet, but been using the di8 all winter. The line is a tad thicker at the colour marks, but will make no difference at all to the sink rate or its casting abilities.

I never thought it would make that much of a difference, but since i've used them, fishing the hang is very easy and you seem as if you're in more control as you know where the end of the line is.

The markers save time for marking the line up yourself, and give anglers who are new to the hang method the option to fish it.

Hope this helps, Kieron

Thanks for your post Kieron

The line I ve purchased has not got uniformed markings on,and the middle marked section is very rough.

This is why I though I purchased a bad one.

Thanks again

Rich

Hi Rich,

I don't think the markers are 'that uniform', Im guessing when the line goes through the extruder its pretty much impossible to keep the 'mark' to say a foot in length.

Have you tried casting the line yet? I don't think it will make any difference to how good or bad the cast is.

If you feel it does hinder the casting or its ability you can always send the line back for us to inspect.

I have used the Di 8 throughout the winter and fast glass all of last season and they where very nice to use.

Cheers, Kieron

Nice to have one that's able to cast more than 28yards!
