Default My first trip to a fishery!! wish me luck

At the weekend I will be visiting a trout fishery for the first time to say I’m very much looking forward to it would be an understatement!!

I have gleaned what I can from many of you helpful forum dwellers over the few weeks so its time I bit the bullet and made the effort to get out there and put some of it into practice.

Having never caught on the fly before and the promise of landing a fish is keeping me awake at night I kid you not. So I have a list of things I have ready to take. Please let me know if I am missing any vital components….
Rod
Reel and line
6lb leaders
Tippet
Landing net
Various dry and wet flies, buzzers (any suggestions of what to start with welcome)
Priest
Ledasink
Floatant
Polarized glasses
Snips
Any other bits and pieces I need please let me know
Once again thanks to all who have helped me get this far I just hope I catch something no matter how big or small. Manningford fishery is my destination just in case anyone has been there before.

Martyn

you might need a pair of debarbers (small bull nose pliers) to remove barbs most fisherys are barbles flies only

Best of luck Sir, looks like you have everything covered. In terms of flies, ask at the fishery, they should give you sound advice.

Remember depth is key around this time of year.

A dart or such like will help you get the wind knots out .
put a cork over the point or you may get the point so to speak.
above all enjoy the day and take pictures.

Hat mate. Preferably with a peak. Helps keeping light out and saving getting snagged in the head. Good luck, just enjoy being out there, thats first and foremost.

switch the gas heater off
lock the garage
feed the dog
feed the kids

pay that lekky bill otherwise you will be thinking of it all day

Fish

Seriously, don't show up weighed down with a mountain of stuff, you've outlined the basics above, now just get stuck in and enjoy yourself
