Default Barnsfold stocking policy

My Dad was up at Barnsfold the other week and got chatting to one of their regulars. He mentioned that one lake (barns?) was stocked with larger fish where as the other (beacon?) was stocked with the normal average sized fish. Does anyone know if this is correct?

Thanks, Spuggy

No. I've caught some good fish out of both. It might depend on the fish in his stock nets,. If the fish happen to bigger in Barns nets then Barns get the bigger fish, then vice versa.

Hi Spuggy

I've been going to Barnsfold for about a year and I must admit I've seen some big fish pulled out of the first lake including double figures which I think is Barns. On the other hand I've also seen some fish up to seven pounds taken out of Beacon. The guy who owners the fishery grows trout on in a number of nets in both lakes. If he has large fish in nets on Barns they will presumably go into Barns and the same will apply to Beacon as they are not joined.Lots of anglers on here fish BF maybe one of them can shed more light on your question.

I imagine they will try and keep stocking levels the same on both lakes given their close proximity, and will try and distribute the larger fish equally too.
Barnsfold has been running a lot of years successfully with the same ownership,
so plenty of fish stocking experience there.

I agree Gazza Frank Cason knows what he is doing and gets the stocking policy just right. Fish come out and are replaced immediately on a daily basis.

He would be right going back a couple of yrs Barns had I believe a good head of smaller fish but I think they may hve been escapees from the holding nets and hadn't grown on to the "usual" stamp. This is no longer the case I believe and personally I've seen several 7-10Lb fish come out of Barns n the last 2 yrs.

I wouldn't worry about it - the average BF fish will pull the hell out of your kit pound for pound with anywhere else.
